Michel Banabila & Oene van Geel – Music for Viola and Electronics II

We’ll be tag-teaming two contributions for polishdownpour this week. The first entry may be a bit of a palette stretcher, but even if you’re not a green thumbed Avant-gardener, there’s nougats of value to be had for willing ears. Michel Banabila and Oene van Geel released Music for Viola Volume I last year, and provide this sequel this month. Fans of Johnny Greenwood’s soundtrack career will likely feel at home with this album; intense tonal mood-shifts, unorthodox instrumentation, and moments of cacophony mixed with serenity all give the best kind of orchestral whiplash. This is an excerpt from the piece, but the work as a whole is definitely worth the listen. Listen here: http://banabila.bandcamp.com/album/music-for-viola-and-electronics-ii
