Hakobune – Shizuoka

Tokyo artist Hakobune’s track “Shizuoka” is a bit like the oft referred to scant few seconds when you’re waking up and you’ve joyfully forgotten reality; beat-less, but still retaining a since of rhythm and wordless but emotionally potent. Many of the swirling sounds heard during the bulk of this piece are reminiscent of the Brian Eno/Daniel Lanois synth pad contributions that begin the Joshua Tree before the cutting guitar reminds you whose album it is; Hakobune kindly stretches out that blissful haze into a five-minute piece.  The full album, Mizukagami, is due out October 30 on a limited edition (100) purple cassettes, but also available for digital download. http://sacredphrases.com/product/hakobune-mizukagami/
